Only one person responded to this post the other day, so here it is again. Please, please help me.
So, Lemmiwinks is about a year old now, and he was getting more and more aggressive. My sister recently moved, and she dumped one of her cats off on me. So, now the grand total is 4. Lemmiwinks does NOT like Lil Boo (new cat.) He was attacking her constantly, so I had to separate them. I have a small apartment so it's really a huge pain to do it. He cries all night long, I can't sleep...ugh.
So, one day I was cleaning my apartment, and Lemmiwinks sneaked into my bedroom and grabbed Lil Boo. He was really going at it, just tearing her up as much as he could. I intervened, and guess who got the brunt of the attack? So, now my right arm looks like hamburger meat. It's healed some, but still hurts. I had hematomas (sp?) on my wrist, just everywhere.
So, to make a long story short, the the ambulance people (yes, I had to call an ambulance because it wouldn't stop bleeding, and I was scared to death) called Animal Control, who called me and said that I had to take Lemmiwinks to a vet of my choice for Rabies Observation. Now, my cats are all completely indoor cats, but unfortunately I hadn't taken Lemmiwinks to get his current shots yet. Since I had no proof of his rabies vaccination, they said I had to do the Observation thing. They said they would take him at no charge, or, like I said, I could take him to a vet of my choice.
Well, I sure as hell wasn't handing him over to Animal Control, who are known here for gassing animals after just 3 measly days and then cremating them, sometimes not even fully dead. Not to mention since he hasn't had any vaccinations, he might have picked up some gross cat kennel disease from all the strays there. No, no.
So, I took him to this nice hospital down the road from the hotel I work at. They were really nice, and only charged $15 a day to watch him. Poor baby, he was in there for 10 whole days. On his last day of observation, they gave him all his shots, and then neutered him.
I am really, really hoping that the neuter will calm his little ass down, but the vet tech said it could take up to a month before I notice any difference. And, as everyone knows, some cats are just always going to be bitey and neurotic.
What do you guys think the chances are that he'll still be going after Lil Boo? I kind of tested the waters last night, and he didn't try to attack her at all, just stared and stared at her. My other two cats, Buddha and Munchkin, are both females, older, and spayed. Lil Boo is spayed, too.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should handle this situation? Like I said, it's a tiny apartment, and I already have enough on my hands just with cleaning up after them.
Thanks in advance for your kindness and consideration of my problem. Any advice is appreeciated.
